Requesting Accommodations for the First Time
Accessibility Services implements a robust, structured process to establish disability, understand how disability may impact a student, and make informed decisions about accommodations. Ensuring that accommodations provide effective access requires a collaborative, individualized approach that is unique to each student. The most important part is the student’s participation in the interactive process. The process begins when students submit a request to Accessibility Services.
*Note: If you already have approved accommodations through Accessibility Services and wish to renew your accommodations or request new accommodations, please refer to the Returning Students page.
Steps to Request Accommodations
- Complete the online Accommodation Request Form and provide supporting documentation. The form should be completed by the student who is requesting the disability related accommodation or services.
You will be prompted to upload supporting documentation.
Be sure to use your Lafayette email and Lafayette L# to submit a request. All communication will be through your Lafayette email account.
- Submitted Information is reviewed
Student information will be reviewed on an individual, case-by-case basis once all supporting documentation has been received.
- Meet with an Accessibility Services staff member for an Intake Interview
The student will be emailed to schedule an appointment with an Accessibility Services staff member to discuss request, accommodations, policies and procedures, and resources available.
- The review process typically requires 2 to 3 weeks.
