Peer Tutors in the Academic Resource Hub enjoy a flexible schedule, targeted professional development, and a means to make extra money while helping their fellow students. Peer tutors can choose to tutor one course, or as many as five. Ideally, they will have taken the course they intend to tutor at Lafayette, and have earned a ‘B’ or better with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8. We hire students who have been awarded Federal Work Study as part of their financial aid package, as well as any other student who is eligible to work in the United States.

CRLA Certification and Training

CRLA Certified Tutor Training ProgramThe Academic Resource Hub’s tutor training program will seek to meet the International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) Level 1 requirement and hopes to be authorized to certify tutors under the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) guidelines.  Tutors begin with 2 orientation sessions which contain (almost) everything needed to tutor for the Academic Resource Hub.  Additional training sessions are offered throughout the academic year with targeted ITTPC topics covered.  Additional session information can be found in the Academic_Hub_Certification_Curriculum.  The requirements and guidelines to meet the Peer Tutor Level 1 certification are presented at orientation.
